Thanks all some great suggestions.

I like the look of Flowdock - I just signed up to Sqwiggle for similar, but haven't got round to using yet.

Trello is great. Hugely easy to pick up, which is a big advantage for all the part-timers. 

Finding simple CRMs is a tortuous. I found two simple ones - Picnic and SimpleCRM. Wasn't able to upload a small CSV to either. I haven't heard back from Picnic help (2 days on). Simple CRM's help is an autoresponder saying sorry I've got a problem, it's on the list but I should be aware problems are solved in order of the number of people having that problem. 
So nil point to both of those.

If anyone has suggestions for really simple CRM, would be grateful. We don't need opportunities. We can operate with just tasks or tags.

ps - have also started using Evernote for collaborative working. It's great as a clip book of good ideas, but only I'm doing that so far. We use it for sharing blog post drafts (we used to use Editorially, but they are closing down). It's OK for sharing drafts, not amazing.
