Hi John

I only dabbled briefly, selling to France from UK, and don’t have much experience of it so I will happily defer to a more experienced person if one comes along but, in case no-one does, I’ll offer this:

It has often baffled me why ebay.co.uk will show results from USA but not Europe, when the latter is much closer. I’ve taken to using the TLDs .fr, .es etc when I want to buy from Europe. 

When I tried selling internationally, the basics were fairly straightforward and this link was useful. It might save a lot of time & consultancy fees to go through that first and then seek advice.

The basic set-up is pretty simple - you just logout of you’re normal account and either login at  .com or .co.uk (or create a new account) and that’s about it. You could use an incognito/private browsing window but I think there’s some form of server side session data or tokens at work and I found being logged into another territory caused all kinds of problems - I would get logged out halfway through creating a listing, things like that. There a Windows app called Turbolister which I’ve heard is useful but there was no official OSX version at the time so I couldn’t use it myself. There may be by now.

P&P costs can make you less competitive so bare that in mind.

And that’s about the extent of my knowledge. It’s not much but if it helps, you’re welcome to it.

I didn’t get into the the more advanced stuff about the listings algorithm, keywords, seller performance and feedback scores (which all affect the visibility of your listing), I’m afraid, but there is a lot of info online about that.
