This is a problem I'm facing at the moment. I am in the throws of putting
together a set of brand guidelines for popcorn. I have chosen to work with
an agency who specialise in visual brand identity and whose previous work I
feel is successful. I have taken the fact that their online experience is
limited into consideration and will be working with them, filling in the
blanks. After all, web restrictions are just another part of the brief.

I remember the rebrand of a UK site (that will remain nameless) performed by
a traditional agency. The new logo used colours outside the web-safe
palette.

Whose fault? I guess the agency didn't do their research? Maybe they
weren't briefed well enough?

The creation of the visual identity is a skill best performed by a dedicated
agency but the limitations of the web must be in the brief and kept in mind
at all times during the process.

Conclusion:
Use an agency who has a proven track record but keep them in touch with the
web design department/agency all along the way.

Anyway, back to my felt-tips.
Billy

Brand Identity: Creating a logo and guidelines that work on and offline?
On a slightly different note to Ian Tait's posting (attached): I'm
interested in opinions and recommendations for Brand Identity Creation
specialists.
I'm trying to 'crack' (sorry!) the chicken-and-egg scenario of creating an
online brand identity that will then be marketed using offline media.
