As far as I know, the Lateral agency came up with the phrase to
describe their 'in-your-face' banners which did things like warp the
web page. An example of this was the campaign they did last year for
the Lynx deodorant brand. Hope that helps. I'm not sure but I think
they also apply the term to dynamic HTML ads which crawl across the
screen - IE flat eric for levis.
