Well, sort of at the way it worked but also disappointed that it seemed 'so
close', as if it really was just software on my PC. This was about 5 or 6
years ago. I had been involved in email (I designed a package to teach the
principles of email without the phone charges that you lot may have used in
school in the mid-80's called MACEMAIL it sold to about two thirds of all
secondary schools in UK) and PRESTEL as early as 1984, even had a chat
on-line via BTGold and Campus2000 wirth a friend in Australia in about 1985.
With a BBC micro and a 1200 baud modem one really did, feel the distance and
it seemed more 'real' in some ways than the web does now. However, I now get
really frustrated if my ISDN line doesn't load a page in under 2 seconds.
Sorry to go on, I'll be talking about Mars bars costing 3 old pence soon.
