i think chomsky did something similar in manufacturing consent. that would
be a useful book for anyone interested in using the press as an empirical
tool for measuring the "success" of someone.

leslie's idea of judging people by airplay scares me shitless. hasn't this
onanistic self-congratulation gone far enough?
