My top search engine registration expert provides the following, which you
may find useful:
"First step is to contact the search engines which it seems they are.
Legal action is a definite possibility depending on how far they want to
take it. There have been other cases that have gone as far as court and a
recent one here in the UK (which was only keywords) ruled in favour of the
party whose keywords had been "stolen".

There is a body http://www.aim-pro.com Association of Internet Marketing
Professionals which is relatively new (I'm a member) but fairly well known
within the SEO community. They have an email address ERICAIM-pro [dot] com which
can be used to report such abuse and they may be able to help or at least
advise".
Hope this helps - dreadful scam if it turns out to be true.
