Subject: UKNM: cash scams

Hi

I am working on a BBC TV programme and wondered whether anyone from the list
had examples of any big cash scams on the internet which we might be able to
follow up, replies off list to me a the above address.

Thanks

Debbie

Sure, Debbie - I would really like to help with ANOTHER 'exposure' of bad
internet practices in an effort to undermine MY marketplace. If you
frequented this list, you may realise that we are concerned about the
negative, biased and undermining attitude of the press/media towards the
Internet. Sorry I can't help, but I thought the BBC was above all this
uneducated, overhyped and ill-informed media fragfest.

On another note - I like the sudden "we must spread warning messages to this
list in a really subtle way with Hugs and Kisses the UK Advertising Agency"
influx.

I agree with some of what was said, after all I know of a certain reasonably
high profile website that hired a design agency, an online agency and an ad
agency to give their site real impetus - almost 5m impetus - and now that
the potential backers from the States have pulled the plug they have
absolutely no means of paying these agencies. And no customers as yet .....
oops. Although it should not be celebrated as stories like these are bad for
everyone in the industry - especially those that have to convince backers
that they are viable. However if I was in the position of an Ad agency - I
would see the colour first before I shot... if you catch my drift.

It was also funny to see that URWired - who valued itself at 160m with only
35,000 unique visitors a month and spent too much on a very poor TV campaign
have cancelled their flotation. Wonders never cease....
