Subject: UKNM: search engines: the bigger picture
From: William Makower

Good to hear Robin's views on cloaking and signposting technology and more generally on search engines. As experts in web marketing we would agree with everything that Robin has to say. Getting into Yahoo and the Open directory are not simple exercises and once rejected it can become increasingly difficult to have your site assessed a second or subsequent time.
I remember hearing figures that suggest that 80 odd percent of surfers look at the front page of a search engine, 70 odd the second page, 50 odd the third page and just 4 percent look at the fourth or subsequent page. Such figures underline the very real need to have an agency not just submitting but also optimising your site.

Kind regards
William Makower
