what is interesting is the amount of sites people actually really "use" as
opposed to sites they merely "visit"...
I think we are all concerned with people who are just "surfing" from site to
site and hence we want them to become real visitors. Hopefuly when real
unlimited access becomes a reality for most people at home, they won't have
the thought of paying per minute for their access time and try and do
everything as quickly so not to rack up a huge phonebill. But at the moment,
people are still concerned about this and will just surf from one site to
another...
It was interesting to see the recent MMXI survey that said more people visit
Barclays Web site than any other and it was ahead of Egg...
But what's interesting is not this finding, but what it doesn't really
say...
More people may visit the Barclays site, but how many actual do transactions
on it eg: check balance, pay bills etc... That's something the research
didn't really say...
Less people may visit the Egg site, but more people may go into the secure
area and do transactions...

What _is_ interesting to see is how many sites people really do use very
often! Leslie can only name 5, and this is his line of business.
Some recent market research we carried out recently amongst city types
showed that whilst 97% of them had internet access and more than 40% of them
had done something transactional on the internet (such as purchasing
books/videos/groceries/etc.), significantly less than 10% could actually
name any site they visited regularly, let alone frequently!
I wonder if anyone has any more stats like this to throw into the melting
pot?
