We just went through the process of hiring an agency ourselves.

Without going to who Grey Interactive selected, these were the most credible
alternatives who I'd reckon on being the most appropriate for a start up:
Mantra, Bite, Prodigy, Eulogy, and Nash

Ohmigod I never thought I'd be asking this, but it's for a friend soooooo. .
.

Any recommendation for a red hot new media PR agency? . . . i have a friend
who's working for a big startup and needs someone that can hit the new media
trade press and the financial press and basically make sure that when they
do something, it *really* gets noticed (I believe they're planning to emerge
from under their stone fairly soon, but they're more worried about
technology than PR, they want to stick to what they're good at). Also, if
anyone knows who the major guys in the UK are using (Virgin.net, freeserve
etc), it would be really helpful to know.

Please reply directly, as this is quite possibly tedious. For once, dodgy
pitches by email (not phone) accepted.

On the subject of which, would it be possible to either tone down the IDM's
PR effort on UKNM, or suggest a more subtle approach? How about sponsorship,
guys?

That's nice, a bit of gushing politeness never goes amiss.
