Its not really microsofts doing. I belive your refering to RealNames see -
www.realnames.com
Typing the 'RealName' into IE or most of the major search engines direct you
to the 'RealName' companys alias URL.
Tried it as a tool for SE enhancement without a great deal of success but
could be useful for a well branded company name.
