Hi guys
I'm with Nikki, but want to add a comment from the standing-watching side
of the road.
For a number of reasons, I decided not to go on my own a few years ago;
in my case, and I'm sure this is not unique, it was due to family
commitments - kids, mortgage etc - and the fact that I don't want my wife to
have
the worry of a risk that is of her husband's making. That was my choice,
my responsibility, and some might say it was cowardice on my part not to
just do it and damn the consequences.
But we're all selfish - that's the philosophical rant. We do it for our
own perceived benefit, not for anyone else. Taking everything on balance,
I would rather my wife talk to me for the next five years, that I see my
kids growing up, even if it means I'm sometimes frustrated by not being in
charge of my own destiny, and that I have to bow and scrape to people I
consider total wankers.
And, while I can empathise with your situation, you just have to take
responsibility for things having gone wrong, and move on.
You're not better than me, Trevor. You just made a different decision,
but you did it for yourself, not for any greater good. Only you will know
whether you made a mistake, or whether circumstances conspired - as they
sometimes do - to make your business targets unattainable.
On a lighter note, have you all seen Chris Cleaver of Brandsmith on p18
NMA today? He quotes "They did a good job on the brand" about the demise
of Boo. Is he not confusing "brand" with "image"?
Mags at number one, and bettybowers is still a better Christian than you.
ttfn
Richard
