Try checking the bounding box of the car MC (between the car's X and Y
position and the X + width and Y + height). If it falls inside this box,
then the car has collided.

Subject: FLASH: collision detection

I'm trying to develop a simple car racing game. I have the 'car' mc moving
at the bottom of the screen as a mouse tracker confined to a rectangle one
pixel high but the width of the screen. I need to find a way of telling the
car mc to go to the crash sequence of the timeline when it collides with
oncoming mc's (trees etc).

I've tried a loop detecting if the pointer is near the oncoming mc's, but it
doesn't work because the car mc is confined to the bottom of the screen but
the pointer can be anywhere....

Any help would be a life saver...or a point in the direction of a
tutorial....I've tried mooks and the flash academy tutorials, to no avail.

Thanks,

dave
