FLASH: Macromedia Flash Deployment Kit

Hi All


Macromedia is currently finalizing a Flash deployment Kit for developers.

I just didn't want you to do all that work then find out that Macromedia has released a Flash deployment kit. Below find a

description of the kit.  This due for release late April/ early May, this will be a free download :-)

Using Macromedia Flash (SWF) content on your Web site


The Macromedia Flash deployment kit will enable developers and first-time users to easily implement Macromedia Flash (SWF) content

on their Web site. The examples and templates provided will give easy an step-by-step instructions for implementing Macromedia Flash

detection and content on the Web.


The Macromedia Flash deployment kit will consists of:


1 - Updates to the following Macromedia Authoring software:

HTML templates for Macromedia Flash Publish Settings

Macromedia Dreamweaver 3 Object


2 - The necessary JavaScript, with supporting HTML, for detecting the presence or absence of a suitable version of the Flash Player

and taking the appropriate action of:

Presenting Macromedia Flash content

Directing users to the Flash Player download center at Macromedia (in cases where the browser does not support automatic player

installation)

Providing alternate content (HTML/GIF version)


3 - Macromedia Flash 4 movie, with supporting HTML, that implements a scriptless Macromedia Flash (SWF) "sniffer"

4 - The HTML/Javascript for setting and using HTTP cookies to record information gleaned in the detection process, to optimize the

user's experience.
