The other reason why I mentioned it is that 82x10K is 820K - what if I was
visiting the site but only decided to visit say 1/2 dozen of the halls? Why
should I have to download 820K to see 60K of what I want?

The Shockwave Player makes relatively easy work of these advanced
media-handling schemes. There may be ways to put together a specific
approach for other tools, but what you describe is one of the central
abilities of Director and Shockwave.


Hmm... Jason raised a good point, are you actually seeking to preload
because it takes a long time to start? If so, then your design may preclude
the principles described here:

But a 10K movie shouldn't take long to start up....
