The Shockwave Player makes relatively easy work of these advanced
media-handling schemes. There may be ways to put together a specific
approach for other tools, but what you describe is one of the central
abilities of Director and Shockwave.


Hmm... Jason raised a good point, are you actually seeking to preload
because it takes a long time to start? If so, then your design may preclude
the principles described here:

But a 10K movie shouldn't take long to start up....
