Hi Everyone,
I've caught up on all the posts about the list archive. The ownership of
these posts is always a difficult and contentious issue, one which any
lawyer will tell you is extremely cloudy. I have intended for a long time
to provide a searchable archive of postings to make everyone's life easier
and to cut down on the number of repeated questions.
I'm now thankfully at a stage where I'm going to spend a great deal more
time concentrating on the mailing lists and sorting out the website that
sits behind them. I'll post up developments to the list as soon as the site
is ready to roll - there's still a few hosting and bandwidth issues to get
sorted.
I'm working on the premise that all postings to the list, aside from
obvious spam and high offensive postings, will be included in the archive.
If anyone wishes their postings to be removed, they can contact me directly
and I will remove them from the archive. I'm taking legal advice on this,
but I believe in the world of common-sense (if such a place exists), this
provides everyone with the most sensible option with, I hope, the
flexibility to protect those who wish to remain more secluded.
If you have any comments, it's best to email me directly, rather than
taking precious list bandwidth. Thanks to everyone for making this such a
useful environment.
