Warren,

I am not sure what you mean by this but this is not fair. Several of us
responded to you and related threads in many many posts to Shocker and
Direct-L. I have been out most of today on a business trip and yes, I am
behind. I just posted something to Direct-L and got a message that it
could not be posted today because the list exceed its daily limit of 200
messages!!! It is impossible given the volume here, Direct-L, Shocker,
(not to mention a number of other lists many of us participate in) for us
to respond to every message, on every list, let alone every day. That
doesn't mean I (or anyone else here) is trying to "crawl back into the
woodwork." Please, lets keep this a civilized discussion--a basic degree
of mutual respect is neccesary for forums like this to be of any value to
anyone. We are very aware of your concerns and the other concerns
expressed on these various online forums. We are taking them very
seriously, have tried to communicate some of the behind-the-scenes
thinking, and tried to engage in a real discussion about this. We are
evaluating a number of possible imporvements to respond to the concerns we
have heard and we are continuing to talk with as many people as we can
(both end users of the Remote and Developers of content). We will come
back with more infomation on our thinking and plans as quickly as we can,
but if you are going to accuse us of "crawling into the woodwork" just
because there have been less posts by a senior VP at Macromedia on this
topic for one day, it is hard to see how we can have a productive
discussion. We have heard you and others, we have responded to many
questions, we will respond to more, but please give us some breathing room
so we can actually discuss some of this stuff internally and not just
repeat ourselves on the list. (BTW, I for one am at a wedding this weekend
and I will be offline. Please don't also take that as a sign that we are
"crawling into the woodwork".)

All: This discussion about the remote broke out first on the Shocker and
Direct-L forums and there were a number of posts there from myself, Joe
Dunn, a Senior VP in our Shockwave.com group, Pete Caban in developer
relations, and of course JD. I don't think it is valuable to repeat all of
those posts here right now. A very brief summary would be: Many people
expessed a wide range of concerns about the nature of Shockwave 7.0.2,
particularly the new Shockwave Remote. Some people also expressed interest
and approval of the new functionality, but certainly there were some real
issues raised by Shockwave users. We are reviewing all of this, our first
week of stats about the downloads, surveys of both developers and
consumers, reports from our tech support team, and will share a lot more
data and some more specific responses to the issues raised shortly (but
probably not tomorrow or over the weekend). I or one of my colleagues will
make a cross-post to this list, Direct-L, Shocker. If you want to add
anything to the discussion that you don't think has been raised already,
feel free to send me a private email, and I will make sure it is circulated
to the folks involved.

By the way, if you have not visited Shockwave.com yet and downloaded
Shockwave 7.0.2 with the new Shockwave remote, it is quite cool IMHO. And
check out Missle Command, Frogger and Centipede if you are a fan of early
80s classic arcade games....-;) For information about developing content
for Shockwave 7.0.2 or about the remote, visit www.shockwave.com/devroom
