The QuickTime movie to which Jim refers in his message was created by importing the QuickTime movie into Flash, extending the timeline to display the length of the imported MOV, then adding a separate layer with the navigation controls and other overlay information. Navigation was accomplished using standard Flash commands. Although I don't have the original FLA from which this was done, I could make up a similar example (with uglier art) and post it somewhere if people might find that useful.

For best results, you should have QuickTime Pro with the authoring component installed. QuickTime Pro gives you access to advanced controls over your QuickTime movie.
