It's very rare to find a stupid question here.

As for your query, yes there is an easier way of doing this.

In symbol editing mode ctrl+e.

You will notice a small cross on the symbol edit stage. This is the

centre point for your objects. Realign all elements and the change will

propagate to all instances of the symbol that are used on stage.
