Subject: FLASH: Bad Bugginess w/Flash inside Director 7.02

We've developed an animated character in Flash that we're using as online
mentor or agent inside a Director piece. We're using Director 7.02 and Flash
4 (we've tried using Flash 4 saved as 3 as well as Flash 3 but it doesn't
seem to make a difference.) Over the last few weeks we have had some severe
bugginess using Flash inside Director. It has been difficult to get Flash
behave properly in a projector (forget Shockwave). For any consistent
behavior, we have had to select the "Paused" option in the cast member
properties to hold the main timeline still and then use movie clips inside
flash for animations. For the most part, we send events from Flash (using
the getURL event: prefix) and capture them in Director, being careful not to
use "Go" syntax anywhere. We use Lingo to move the Flash timeline to
different Flash labels (all with stop frames and Flash MCs running in the
stop frame). Even so, we get spotty and inconsistent performance. It
sometimes takes a "Save As" with a new name 5-10 times of the exact same
file with no changes to come up with a projector that functions properly.
When it's not working, the Flash sprite will either stay fixed on the first
frame or loop through the entire movie, ignoring all Flash stop actions. In
another bizarre case, the Flash sprite will jump to the proper label, and
play a single frame before stopping.

In short, we find terrible inconsistencies in performance. Each time we
think we've nailed a reproduceable bug, we find it's not working or not not
working consistently.

What gives?

Anyone using Flash extensively in D7.02 and suffering from similar problems?
Any additional documented bugs we don't know about(besides Technote 12947)or
good stability policies for working with Flash in Director?

j.d? Anyone?
