Last I checked, the Opera Software folks support only some-but-not-all
Netscape plugins. Although there have been reports of successful Shockwave
installations, usually those don't go at all. They tested against Flash 3,
though, and I haven't heard of Opera problems with the Flash 4 Player.

(Rephrased, Flash is likely supported by Opera, but Shockwave isn't.)

If that's a literal phrase from a dialog, then it looks like one component
is hardwired for the Netscape browsers. Shouldn't affect the Player itself,
though.

Last I checked, the Macromedia and shockwave.com sites did not include
explicit JavaScript and other checks for the Opera browser, so you'd
probably see some small differences in various areas. Current Opera says it
can use the Netscape plugin version of the Flash Player, though, so overall
it would likely work.
