Here's a tutorial on the Spotlight Mask, written pre-F4, but it works nicely...and I've used it to do the colored spotlight, as well. Just takes a little tweaking.
Oh, and I don't write for MACR, so it's a little more loose. (not that they have poor writers. Not that they don't, either.)
