Catherine,

Well put - A couple of weeks ago I wrote a similar question to the
lists. I too am new to Flash but and old hand (over 7 years
professionally) at multimedia. I am similarly amazed at just how bad
Flash is, and I had an almost response on the list to my question
(mostly "get used to it/ it is not that bad/ why should the interface
be the same?").

I can only imagine that you are absolutely correct - the developers
must be aliens, and one who have never heard of Apple's Human
Interface Guidelines.

Flash does have one sole good point - almost all the bugs and gripes
(and there are pages of them) that I have sworn at over the last 3
weeks are totally Win/Mac cross-platform - I even have a simple flash
document that spontaneously decided to refuse to open and crash both
the Mac and Windows version of Flash 4. Macromedia tech support have
yet to get back to me on this one, but for the moment I don't trust
Flash at all. I would not expect such appalling software from a $35
shareware title.
