Just for the record, this was not at all the case. We did not "tell" you
that you could not "use your knowledge".
Don't been rediculous! My company simply asked you to remove our orignal
work(and -yes- it was OURS) that was being used for your company's logo
without license. I personally told you I did not care and advised you to at
least change the "color", edit it, something, etc. so that it would not be
confused with ours. Personally, I could care less about "spinning globes".
They're overused and an eyesore. But however uncreative they may be, my
corporation is a different entity with its own investors, staff, clients and
policy and if we were to exlusively license the use of that particular piece
and one of our "paying" clients saw it being used by your company, we could
be involved in a contract dispute, therefore being held liable. There is a
disclamer in all the source files we release. This is standard business
practice.
If I remember correctly, you approached us asking to use that piece for you
company identity and we told you we would be glad to license or sell it to
you. We did not hear from you again and it soon became obvious your
intention was otherwise. If you are going to post to a public forum, please
at least state the facts. We are not in the business of haggling people,
only creating expert work. Protecting it is part of that process.
Please visit http://www.uspto.gov/ to educate yourself/company on copyright
law.
Also if you still plan on carrying this "Off Topic" thread, please do so
privately. I am sure the listees patience are wearing thin with all these
issues not reguarding Flash development(particularly my "defense" posts,
I'll take the blame). It was not designed for this.
The weekends over.
Thanks,
