As I understand it, it's not a line, but a tiny little spot
that fades out in hundreds (if not thousands) of mcs.
Must be either a perfectionist or a Flash fanatic...
But if someone finds out how to achieve this easier with
actionscript, I would be interested too.

I hate to give bad news, but I think this isn't as simple as you all are
sounding. Correct me if I am wrong, but the effect is not just a red line
that fades following the cursor. In fact, particularly when the cursor moves
"obliquily" (sorry about that english). What I have noticed is that the red
line does some kind of wave in these movements.
Could it be that this involves some kind of mathematical script that
calculates how the line should draw itself? If this is the case then we are
talking definitely about a Flash 4 effect.
