Paul,
I would go ahead and stick with the 256Meg of ram and plan on
upgrading either to Windows ME(Millennium) or Windows 2000. If it's for a
development platform go with Windows 2000. I've used 2K since it came out
and only had one problem (a software problem), other then that it's been
great. And to what Lars said, windows 95 does have the drawback, I'm sure
98 does to, but SE may have that lifted. I would contact Microsoft and ask
them personally. If it's for development use go with an NT Base (NT4 or
2000) there the most stable and will use ever thing that's given to them.
