I can only tell you what I have used in the past, but it's a product that is
no longer available:
Alias Sketch!
I'd bet you could find a hacked copy somewhere.
Well, you could. And it IS a discontinued product.
But I have had lots of fun creating photorealistic objects with it, and it's
pretty easy to use.
There is no animation capability - just modeling and rendering.
But I've done great stuff with it.
There are, of course, others:
Extreme 3D, by Macromedia... also discontinued.
Infini-D by ?
Hash Animation Master is only $199, and it can do photorealistic rendering.
But it's an absolute bear to learn.
Lightwave by NewTek - expensive.
