Subject: | FLASH: Attention: Flash Standlone Player is NOT Infected with AOL PASSWORD STEALER trojan hoarse |

We've been able to confirm with Symantec that the trojan horse report listed below is a false one. They have updated their virus definition files to reflect this, and we have posted the following technical note on our web site:
http://www.macromedia.com/support/flash/ts/documents/pwsteal.htm
Issue
Norton AntiVirus for Windows 95/98/NT indicates that there is a Trojan horse virus attached to the Flash Player and EXE files created by Flash. The virus is called PWSteal. This includes stand-alone projectors and files on the Flash 4 install CD.
Reason
The Virus Definitions for NAV, dated 12-27-99, cause an erroneous message to be displayed, telling users that these files contain a virus.
There is no virus attached to these files. They are safe to use. This has been confirmed by Macromedia and Symantec.
Solution
Download the latest virus definitions from Symantec's web site.

Additional information
Further questions regarding NAV and viruses should be directed to Symantec's technical support.
Thanks to those of you who reported this problem so we could resolve it quickly.
