FLASH: importing animated gifs

Hi,


I am using "object insert" to import an animated gif but only see (in 

the workspace) the gif icon and when trying to see the animation in the 

scene, get nothing.


I am getting the feeling that one must export the swf file with the gif 

in it and then look at it in a browser to see the animation.  is this 

correct, and if not, how do i do this, please?
