Granted there are very valid and powerful
uses of XML on the server. However XML
processing and server connections are
expensive in terms of server resource usage.
By moving much of the processing to the
client, and reducing the number of times
the client makes a request from the server,
you can get a much better bang for your
server buck.

Also, by implementing XML on the client side
you enable stand alone apps, which you can
burn to CD. In the case of Flash this will
provide a seamless integration with your web
presence by presenting an idenditcal interface;
look, feel and function. You can also use the
web to capture data and easily integrate that
data into a stand alone app on a regular basis.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

Cheers,
John Andrew Morrison
