Did you sign an agreement when you hired on stating that anything you
developed, created, wrote, etc etc whilst in their employ belongs to the
company? If so you might have to give them your code as it was when you
left the company, not with modifications you've made since. However, and
this is a biggy, if the company no longer exists, and it belonged to the
company rather than an individual (say the CEO), then you probably are
under no obligation to hand over the source code.

That's just my thoughts, but I'm not an attorney. I'd certainly seek legal
counsel for this, if I were you.
