Just a thought . . .

If my understanding of cache is correct, a partial download of an swf file
would cause the browser to reload the entire file in order to begin viewing
it at another visit. If you streamed only part of an swf file, the browser
would see that particular file in cache is not the correct size and does not
match the file being called and therefore recall it instead of use what is
in cache.

I think there are two things that say refresh me . . . the modified date and
the size. If neither match, and correct me if Im wrong, it will perceive
the need to reload it again.

With all the way browsers deal differently with cache, I would not ever
count on caching accept to mess things up. For example, I once posted work
prior to its completion and when the client went to see its progress, he was
not able to because the old file was trapped in cache. Again, I called my
partner yesterday at home and asked him to try out one of our sites and he
said it worked. I said clear your cache and he when he did, the site was no
longer accessible because the server was in actuality down. Hence the need
for for meta tags that expire swf files rather than hoping the cache will
save your downloading time later. Its really a shame that cache cannot be
more reliable. Does anyone have a thought as to how to make it so?
