Hi Daniel
Thought you query was to John, I noticed you
were looking for a script that detects as many browsers as
possible.
Here is an attached text file of a script that detects a
plethora of browsers and redirects as you wish. You'll have to change the
URL's of course.
What Ive learned works well is simply make anyone with v2 of
any browesr or less go to a help page . . . if they have a Flash capable browser
3+, I forward them to a Flash Plugin detect page which then forwards them either
to a getplugin.html page or to the Flashed Site Entrance itself. The help
page and the getplugin page can both have an option to go non flashed if you
wish. All this takes place in seconds but it gets them where I want them
and where they wont be too confused.
Not exactly what you wanted I know but I hope it helps you and
any others whove spent alot of time fretting about this area as I have. I
would like to hear other ways you folks have solved these detection
issues. =)
~Daniel
PS . . The olympic.org site goes as far as as detecting your
platform and browser on the getplugin page so that your choice is made for you
of which plugin to download. This all done through extensive
JavaScripting. |
