Hi Flashers,
Re: Flash in Business
I've heard some remarks from naysayers that "most flash sites are from
design houses or entertainment sites, etc., not really used in serious
web-business sites".
Pls check out this site...
http://www.bid4it.com
Now here is a site, that is a serious web-commerce site. It's an auction site.
The front end is already in flash, and many of the product pages can and
will be converted using Generator.
This is a NASDAQ company. Publicly traded company, so this is serious
stuff. Interestingly, when the flash front end was put in place the stock
went from $3 to $8.
There are also html pages there, so you can make a before/after comparison.
The message is... If your clients are a little timid about the new web
standard, 2nd generation websites, you can show them that the big boys are
doing it.
The swf's there aren't perfect; I'm working on it. But I applaud these
guys for being brave enough and forward thinking enough to commit to take
the chance on flash, when the stockholder's money rides in the balance.
This is the first internet auction site to use flash AFAIK.
BTW, when you go to the "behind the scenes" link, and check out the NASDAQ
stock page, check out the latest PR - re: Flash.
MM Marketing, take note.
If you like this, why not send a note about it to the Pres., Mike Sheriff
to reassure the board that they made the right decision. The link is on
the site "behind the scenes".
ATB,
