FLASH: Possible to duplicate a duplicated movie clip?

I have a duplicated movie clip named _level0/Menu1Item8.  In the action code

for a button that resides in this clip, I then duplicate this duplicated

clip and name the new clip SelectedItem.  When I try to use the new clip as

the target of a tell target action, I get the following error: 


Target not found: Target="SelectedItem" Base="_level0/Menu1Item8"


Is it just not possible to duplicate a duplicated movie clip, or do I need

to add something to my path on my tell target (Begin Tell Target

("SelectedItem"))?  Sorry if this is a stupid question.  I ordered John�s

book right after it was announced (signed version from CrownMall), but still

haven�t received it.  Has anyone else?
