You'd have a big fight if you said that on
comp.graphics.animation;-). Lightwave has more market share
(slightly), Maya and Softimage are generally preferred in
Hollywood, however, 3dstudio is heavily used in games,
smaller tv studios, some network tv and some movies. It is
certainly one of the top 3-4 tools. Further, Max is out in
front of all these other tools as far as web publication,
IMHO (due to plugs like illustrate and Nemo.)

Its also pretty expensive, though, and certainly overkill
if your just interested in spinning globes and 3d text.
