Hi Jonny,
Unless I am missing something in your description, you should be able to:
open your colour pallet, and create a new "blend" from the background colour to a new colour that you create with an alpha of 0.
you should now be able to create a box with this linier blend,
It might be worth mentioning that I have found that you sometimes get wierd effects with alphas and bitmaps in 16 bit colour so you may want to test for this?
hope this helps
Chris.

Is it possible to create a box where the alpha fades smothly from one side
of the box to the other. ie. one side of the box is black, the other side
you can see through
The idea is to have a box over an image, so it looks like the image is
fading away slowly(the box will be the same color as the background)
i cant just make the image fade out cause what i want to fade isnt a static
thing, i just want things to slide into nothingness
thanks, Jonny
