Subject: FLASH: help with fonts
From: Dave Hollinden

We're choosing a font (or fonts) for a new site, and we want to avoid a
problem we've had in the past where type in the exported movie can look kind
of shadowy or irregularly grayed-out. I assumed it was a combination of
small font size and anti-aliasing. Can someone with more experience with
text and fonts in Flash give some help regarding good font choices and
minimum font size?

Also, I've gotten confused regarding Flash text export. I had always
believed that although the Flash file itself requires a particular font to
be present on the developer's system to display it correctly, the exported
SWF contains everything it needs to display the font correctly on any
system. However, things I've read lately seem to contradict this, including
the MM site and the new Flash 4 f/x & Design book ala John Croteau (which is
a good book). What's the scoop on this?

Thanks,
