Hi Carla,

Well they are different for a reason:

One is the main movie and one is the edit portion of the movie(i.e.:
an item created as a MovieClip in the library), if they were exactly alike
we would all get very confused!

Why don't you create an object/item in the main movie, convert it to a
symbol, copy it, and then Command/Control+Shift+V and put it in the same
place somewhere else in the timeline!

Now lets' say you want to create a movie clip, and you want to know exactly
where to put it in your scene, to keep it accurate I would suggest using the
(window -> Inspector -> object) to open up the object inspector window and
make a note of where exactly your movie clip MC or object is on the stage,
just in case it somehow gets moved.

I would also suggest that you copy the item and open up a new movie and
paste it in there, in the exact spot you wish to animate your Movie Clip.
Why?
Because if you change your mind and have already gone through the process of
animating, changing the object, you have it already saved in the correct
spot in the "real movie" that you're creating. Also, what if you want to use
this particular "item" in another movie? Well you already have it! Walla!

cYa,
