US copyright lay is slightly different from Irish law so I can't quote
you all
the legal stuff but the process is usually fairly simple: You contact
the
record company and the publishing company (they own the rights to the
recording
and the lyrics respectively) sometimes there will be more than one
publishing
company involved- the record company will tell you. You'll need to tell
them:
Artist/Group
Track Number
Song Title
Composer
Usage
Duration for clearance
Audience (who they are and how many approximately will hear it!)

That's about it. i hope this helps.

Clo

PS Fair Use law is a lot more relexed in the US - If you are using the
music for
educational or non-profit purposes - you're pretty much covered.
