Subject: FLASH: OT: The spam/scam sham, or, Samir redux
From: Ken Sherwood
Date: Tue, 2 Jan 2001 06:38:01 GMT

Geez I hate being lied to. Don't you?

... or maybe my thinking isn't clear here. Is my logic faulty?!

-----

On 12/28/99, Samir Ahmed <miltechatemirates [dot] net [dot] ae> tells the Flasher list
that he has "just noticed a cool flash website" at www.sheikhmohammed.com.
His message is signed "@rtaffects".

On 2/28/00, Samir <miltechatemirates [dot] net [dot] ae> reveals to the Flasher list that
he is in fact *launching* the very same site that he'd "just noticed" in the
previous message. (Odd how one can just notice something that he eventually
launches.)

On 12/21/00, I receive a spam from Samir <miltechatemirates [dot] net [dot] ae>
concerning a site at artaffects.go.coolebiz.net.

On 12/30/00, Samir Ahmed <Samir [dot] Aatsheikhmohammed [dot] co [dot] ae> tells us that he has
"just noticed" the site at artaffects.go.coolebiz.net ... .

In his declarations to the members of this list, on 12/31/00, Samir Ahmed
<Samir [dot] Aatsheikhmohammed [dot] co [dot] ae> infers that he is not the author of the 12/21
spam, but rather a receiver of same, and invokes the existence of a person
with the same name.

-----

I honestly would prefer to believe that, in my original post, I had wrongly
accused Samir. I prefer to respect others, not disdain them.

At this point, however, in reviewing the above information, it seems almost
impossible to conclude other than that my original instincts were correct,
after all.

The *only way* I could be wrong about Samir is if the Samir Ahmed
<miltechatemirates [dot] net [dot] ae> who *launched* the sheikhmohammed.co.ae site is
*not* the same Samir Ahmed <Samir [dot] Aatsheikhmohammed [dot] co [dot] ae> who describes
himself as "Web Development Team Manager, http://www.SheikhMohammed.co.ae"
... "both of whom" are or have been members of this list. Perhaps, somehow,
this could be the case, but it seems to me to be a real stretch.

BTW, this ain't about me being right or about a witch hunt of any kind. It's
about honesty, integrity, and setting the record straight. Call me
dysfunctional, if you will, but I am, by nature, *extremely* defensive when
it comes to someone deceiving, scamming, or lying to people whom I consider
to be genuine friends, and about whom I care. So shoot me. :-)

Ken Sherwood, still fighting "the never-ending battle for Truth, Justice,
and the American Way" :-) .
