Sure is (in Flash3, at least).
With the gradient selected, in the palette window click on the little
palette icon to edit the selected gradient. There are little sliders
showing the gradient colors and their positions (the black
slider to the left can be dragged in to add colors). Click on a slider
to edit it. There's an alpha slider over to the right for adjusting
transparency.
Let me know if this is confusing; didn't want to bombard you with
detail.
