Hiya John,
My personal comments towards intergrading Flash and PS, evidently where
taken wrong if this post was somewhat in reply to my Flash4 wishes.
I was suggesting that Flash's graphics editor be more dynamic in that
it tryed to mimic photoshop instead of try to "copy" its creation
capabilities in a certain
format.
I believe an "airbrush" tool would be possible in Flash4, but only using the
ability
to create gradients with more freedom than the existing "radial and linear"
options.
I can somewhat simulate this effect by tracing an outline and painstakingly
use the "fill" tool to get the gradients
to line up. Its a difficult task but doesnt have to be even in creating
vectors, enter: "wish"
It is possible to give more freedom with vector gradients.
Why do you think so many sites are "squares" and "circles"?
Because people are trying to keep the file size small and creating with
vector.
Ill be the last to say , Flash needs to be a jpg or bmp editor. Im simply
saying that more
dynamic tools can be added to Flash's authoring enviroment to create vectors.
What about a convertor that takes a bmp or jpg image(not neccessary a photo)
and converts it using Flash's gradient
ability(vector)? You could then discard the bmp or jpg. It would look
different to an extent
of course, but you would save much more time in trying to manually create it
with just a "fill" option
and linear or radial options.
I find if I can get away from importing an image, bmp or jpg, I will because
they look crappy
and grainy when trying to keep file size down on export. Because of this I
find myself working hours on
end trying to mimic or trace certain images that I could easily import and
use as jpg, because the vector
looks much sharper and keeps the files size small.

I personally never said they were. Of course other people replied to my post.

Agreed. Vector , vector, vector!

Photos are a totally different area. I simply would like to see a way of
shading
or adding a gradient to something besides a box or circle.

I can. Blurred text that is. Again since flash3 only gradient fills squares
andcircles you cant get a relealistic "shadow" for text.

Absolutely!

And so was mine.
Thanks for discussing the topic John,
