I would find it incredibly helpful to have a chart listing various types of
Flash elements
and the resultant file size. For example, I know it's been mentioned that
using a
gradient fill adds x amount of file size (5k???). To have a way of gauging
this up
front would be great (as opposed to having to create the movie, then
monitor the
loading/streaming process, and trying to guess what elements are bottlenecking
the movie). A calculator for sound file size would be handy, too. Is
there a formula
for the size of an Illustrator size after import to Flash? And how might one
calculate the ability of various speed machines and types of display cards
(including
video RAM) in keeping up with movie animation (complexity X window size)? All
this would make planning more of a science.
And actually, if John C. or anybody else could provide some tips on this
subject,
it would be nice not to have to wait for the book to come out.
