Hi gang:
We use Alias Power Animator for most of our 3D stuff but I'm sure the
following will be true of any 3D app. So far have found that the only way to
get acceptable results with 3D imports to Flash is to render the individual
frames from the 3D app. and import them as a movie symbol into Flash. If the
object's background needs to be transparent, then you have to break apart the
images and dump the backgrounds (a solid color). When tracing any images,
we've had to keep the trace options at their highest levels for acceptable
results. I wish there was a direct render to vector graphics, but I know of
none. The Matinee site 3D stuff appears to be placed on dark or black
backgrounds which will allow you not to have to break apart the element (much
more simple).
If anybody has a better way to do this, -- I'm all ears because this process
can be a pain in the butt unless your 3D elements are basic and simple.
