Sorry all, a few mistakes in here. Instead of breaking apart the image use trace
bitmap and use the recommended setting in the online help.
After reading this thread for a week now, I would have to agre on this. You
would be insane if you did it all in Flash and the explaination that Matinee
used (highly unlikely I suspect) seems glorified by everyone here. This is how I
would do it in Flash 3:
-Use Uleads' Cool3D (a good observation from Craig Ferrente) and find a font you
like Webdings or wingdings. You would be amazed at the quality you can get from
these fonts. Cool3D is one of those great programs that do one thing only.
-Save whatever you have to an animated gif. You don't have to worry about how
big the file is.
-Open a new .fla and create a new symbol. Import the animated gif. Flash creates
the nessesary frames to accommodate the gif.
-In frame one, select the image and break it apart. Next choose curves>optimize
and use the settings recommended by the online help. Do this for every frame or
use multiple frame edit (not sure if the later works).
-Once your finnished, close the symbol and save the .fla, then close that.
-Use that .fla as a library for a new .fla
Thats it. Of course, your tweaking all the way through but when aren't you? On
the matter of importing .dxf files, I think that Flash 'just happens' to support
the file format, hence its inclusion. Flash is not a 3D app. All 3D is
illusionary. If you want to use your 3D models, animate them first in a 3D app
and save it to an AVI or quicktime and export it to a animated gif.
