You need some backend work. Something like:

Write a php3/perl script - both languages support easy database access
and read from the db. Output this to flash. There's no simple db
access diretly from flash at least none I know. For little experiments
the flashdb database may be enough. That's a little db engine with any
serious functions that just outputs in a way flash understands.
