Looks like it should work, as long as the action is done on the main
timeline and you're talking to mc's letter1-letter6 that exist on the
main timeline (I assume you've checked to make sure the instances are
right and that they exist in the frame where this action is done). If
not executed on the main timeline, try:

Loop While (/:damncounter<6)
Set Variable: "/letter"&/:damncounter:desplazamiento =
/:direccion
Set Variable: "/:damncounter" = /:damncounter+1
End Loop

(or adjust the path for letter to something else if it's nested, and/or
the path for the variables if they're in a mc).
